Mari I'Anson has painted all her life. Following a classic art school education, she worked as an illustrator before deciding to paint full time. She takes commissions for illustration and paintings and has recently published a book; 'Mari I'Anson's Finchley Sketchbook' with 64 pages of coloured sketches of her local area.
In recent years, Mari has travelled extensively. Seeking winter sunshine she escaped the grey skies of London and with sketchbook ready has captured the ochres and olives of Tuscany, the browns and greens of winter landscapes in Andalusia, Southern Spain and the bright colours of the markets in Thailand. It was here, in Bangkok that she worked as artist-in-residence for four successive winters in Patana International School selling many watercolours of Thailand in exhibitions in the school. Then India beckoned and Mari travelled all over the country, filling her sketchbooks and turning them into canvasses on her return to her Finchley studio. Two winters in San Miguel de Allende, a town in the mountains north of Mexico City where artists and writers, mostly Americans, create a haven for the arts. Here, she painted from a rooftop studio selling her paintings in the town and later exhibiting oils and acrylics in London.
Mari is a member of The United Society of Artists, The Highgate Watercolour Group and is listed in "Who's Who in Art"
